The Wrangell Elks Lodge #1595 has been holding down a corner of this Southeast Alaska island town with the kind of hospitality that only a volunteer-run community can deliver. Walk in on a Friday night and you will find locals gathered around big-screen TVs, a cold drink in hand, swapping stories the way Wrangell people do. The bar is real, the conversation is genuine, and the burgers that come out of that kitchen have earned their reputation.

Saturday nights are a different kind of event. The kitchen crew fires up the grill for rib-eye steak dinners that members and guests have called the best they have ever had, cooked to order and served without pretense. That 4.8-star rating from members and guests is not a marketing number. It is the result of people who actually care about what lands on your plate.

Beyond the dining room, Lodge #1595 carries the full tradition of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, which means charitable work, community investment, and a genuine sense of belonging. The bowling lanes add a layer of fun that keeps nights lively, and the welcoming atmosphere makes it easy for first-timers to feel at home from the moment they walk through the door.

What We Offer

Lodge #1595 runs a full-service bar stocked for a proper cocktail, a cold beer, or whatever you need after a long week on the water or in the woods. The lounge area anchors around large TVs perfect for game nights and community gatherings.

The kitchen punches well above its weight for a volunteer operation. Friday night burgers have become a local institution, and the Saturday steak dinners draw members who plan their weekends around them. Specials rotate, so there is always a reason to come back and see what is on the menu.

The bowling lanes round out the experience, giving members a spot to compete, unwind, and build the kind of camaraderie the Elks have championed for over a century. Lodge events, charitable fundraisers, and member programs run throughout the year, keeping the space active and the community connected across every season Wrangell, AK throws at you.

"Friday night burgers are always good here. The service is very hit or miss, but that is due to this Elks being mostly volunteers running the kitchen. Saturday nights, they normally do steak dinners, it's good but pricey. The rest of the week, unless there is an event, they are just open as a bar. Half of the restaurant is set up as a more formal, cleaner area, whereas the other side is more of a darker, smoke stained sports bar."

Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
